Battle of Trevilians Station

The original photograph was given to D. L. Atkins by Miss Mary Crawford of Trevilian Station, Virginia.  Miss Crawford's father, although not in this photograph, was one of Mosby's Men, and Samuel Puryear Henson (shown in the photograph) was the grandfather of D. L. Atkins' wife, Frances Anne (Henson) Atkins.

Also shown in the photograph is Charles Danne who was also a resident of Trevilian Station and a neighbor of Crawford.  It is believed that Charles Danne presented this photograph to his neighbor as a gift because he was unable to attend the reunion.

Trevilian Station was the site of the largest all Calvary Battle of the Civil War.  For more information on the Battle of Trevilian click under the other links on the left.
